Over the course of this week I have made a start at building my application on Unity. So far everything is going smoothly. I have bought a 3D model pack (as my 3D skills are pretty much non-existant) called Dirty Corridors for £35 on the Unity Asset store from Dexsoft Games. The model pack will do perfect for creating the environment for my application.
So far I have put together a small game area using the Dirty Corridors asset pack to test out my current Unity skills. So far the application has a partially lit corridor and a starting room which is partially furnished with some of the prop assets. The player can currently run about the small area and can also use a torch to illuminate dark areas (which most of the map currently is) by pressing the ‘L’ key.
Over the rest of today and the weekend I intend to build much more of the gameplay area, not only this but I intend to implement more lights so that the player does not need to always have the torch on. I am also going to have another look through the Asset Store for some more props to fill the rooms and corridor to make it look more ‘lived in’.

Go Unity, it’s a great and easy to use engine. Couple of years a go I was playing with Archi CAD and importing my models to unity. Wish I had more time for it.
Yeah, it’s my first time using it, honestly don’t know why I didn’t use it earlier. It just makes things so much easier and faster to create.
Just keep us updated with your projects progress. And if you need any gameplay / bug testing let me know
